The Company
Ratatat Theatre Company was founded in October 2005
Mission Statement
We believe in the civilising influence that the creative process can bring to entertain, enlighten and encourage positive personal development. We aim to present theatre in places where it is rarely seen, to reach new audiences in rural communities or urban settings. We challenge imagination by working with minimal props and settings, but with maximum enhancement using IT, lights and music. We aim to re-visit classics as well as present new work.
Dominic Goodwin, playing Ed/Toad
Dominic Goodwin's first role onstage was back in 1979 in the musical The Dracula Spectacular, when at the tender age of 13 he played the deformed man-servant Genghis (and only because his best friend was in it!). His acting credits have included Northern tours of Two by Jim Cartwright; The Long Mirror by J B Priestley; Siegfried Sassoon in the World War One play Not About Heroes by Stephen MacDonald; and Jack in Godber's September in the Rain. Other roles have included Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream at The Beck Theatre; Oscar in The Odd Couple; Freddie in Noises Off; as well as two appearances as Hercule Poirot in Black Coffee and Peril At End House. He stunned Edinburgh Festival Fringe audiences by appearing in a kilt as the hapless chef Robert in DROPPING TO ZERO by new writer Susie Spencer, covering the subject of anorexia in his ‘TV weathergirl wife’
Dominic's directing credits include: Ayckbourn's How The Other Half Loves and Sisterly Feelings, Twelfth Night, Canterbury Tales, and the musicals; Billy and Carrots. He directed the Ratatat Theatre's first Edinburgh Fringe show last year, Mike Kenny's Whose Shoes?
Dominic was Co-Producer of the Ian McMillan musical about the life and work of Jake Thackray, Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit, and is also closely involved with the new Thackray musical, The Thackray Arms, written by Alan Plater.
Stephanie Preacher, Producer
Stephanie Preacher trained at Central School of Speech & Drama, London and has worked in almost all forms of theatre including street, community & forum theatre, festival, touring and Theatre-in-Education. She worked through the last days of fortnightly repertory theatre, as well as in the West End (playing Flora in Humble Boy), television, film and radio and much voice-over work. On TV, she has played Mildred Cranshaw in Coronation Street, and most recently the ‘dog woman’ Mrs Barrow in Emmerdale. She has played Liz in September in the Rain and Happy Jack.
Her directorial credits include: Gaslight, Duet For One, Separate Tables and The Donohue Sisters. In devising and forum theatre this also includes: The Spanish Conquest of Peru, Zampano's Circus, Ready Steady STOP! and The Mirrors of Chartres Street, based on the writings of Nobel prize winner William Faulkner.
She recently contributed to the R & D project OLGA, a new multi-media production for DANCE OFFENSIVE (Cambridge) due to tour the UK in 2010. Directed by Paul Sadot, choreography by Tom Dale.
She can be seen in the Iceland commercials that wrap round each segment of I'M A CELEBRITY, GET ME OUT OF HERE! She'll be eating either Oriental Duck Surprise or mini-Black Forest Gateaux!
